Two things- I think my generation (and this includes me!) has the idea that whoever has the craziest friday-night-plans-photos wins a prize and that whoever discovers something brand new and exciting to do wins a second less-flashy prize.
So, in fact, would it be contradictory for me to include photos of my weekend excursions? Am I giving in to this competition? Is that destroying my image? Am I supposed to be above it all?
All I’m saying is if you’re stuck and out of ideas of what to do on a cold evening, pack yourself a frisbee and play on the lawn of the Capital building at midnight.
Works like a charm.
And you never know, you might meet a few Santas who will put you in the ever-infectious Christmas Spirit! (Even if these Santas smell like Creme de Menthe and Beef n’ Cheese.)
Happy early Christmas, internet! I hope you get everything you ask for this year.
Dear Christmas Carnival,
You were wonderful, as usual. Thanks for the cotton candy and sights and sounds. And you know, this coulda been a great holiday roommate picture, but the baby goat distracted me.
COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS: 20 DAYS!
Hipster Harry & Hedwig suggest you go see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows! ASAP!
There may be candy, parties with themes, spooky moments and the recurring thought of oh-hey-i-thought-that-was-lingere-but-i-guess-it’s-a-costume, but to me, Halloween forever means camping!
Freshman year my friends and I had the idea to face the wilderness on this holiday. I can say now it remains one of our best ideas to date.
The ingredients are simple:
& old friends.
This year we added a special ingredient- SPARKLERS!
Three years of college and the tradition still stands.
Happy Hallocamp from this lion to you!
I’ve hardly been able to sit down and commit to writing because life is HAPPENING!
Not to say that it wasn’t before, but in my three years of college so far, I always notice that the fall just seems to move at a faster pace. Maybe it’s the cold weather that finally reaches us down here in Texas, maybe it’s the fact that we go stir-crazy as our classes seem to be dragging on til the end, or maybe it’s just because the changing leaves make us eager to change it up.
Whatever it is, the door to our little apartment has been constantly opening with guests and friends bearing baked goods and stories, and I am in no mood to complain!
Roommate C and I tend to strum around and harmonize in our free time and we made a little road trip to her hometown…..
…and played a little show in a pumpkin patch.
1 guitar, 1 ukulele, 5 harmonicas, 2 hours of strumming and well, all the technicalities and practice and occasional little mess-ups aside, there’s no better way to spend a Saturday. Did I mention it was a pumpkin patch? Talk about dedication to theme.
Did I consider swiping all those pumpkins to make a giant pie?
Yes, yes I did.
